QUALITY STANDARDS FOR THE PROCESSING OF WEEE

Article 8 of the European WEEE directive specifies the correct Treatement of WEEE by outlining the necessary standards for WEEE Treatement. In 2014, the European Commission promoted the development of the CENELEC 50625 and EN 50614 series. The WEEELABEX system is based on both standards. Thus, WEEELABEX certification can ensure that its holder treats WEEE in compliance with EU standards.

Poor enforcement of the WEEE Directive can be harmful to the environment. Moreover, it can lead to unfair competition between the EU Member States, European producers, and processing plants. Additionally, it can have a negative impact on the availability of critical raw materials in EU countries in the future. Any inconsistencies in the enforcement of WEEE Treatement standards could also negatively impact emission plans for the EU and jeopardize the achievement of treatment targets in the future.

The WEEELABEX organization concentrates on the constant improvement of the certification of competent auditors and processing operators. It ensures the safe Treatment of WEEE and supports the development and provision of high-quality WEEE-related services, providing processing operators with the label of excellence in WEEE processing and enabling the WEELABEX Organisation to promote best practices in building WEEE management.
